
Residential remodeling appears to be on an upswing, according to a recent survey by the American Institute of Architects. After polling 500 residential architecture firms, results were “encouraging” for the third quarter of 2009. AIA Chief Economist Kermit Baker reported that an “extremely high level of…unsold homes due to the…housing market” combined with an increase in “home energy and transportation costs” have caused homeowners to resist moving – and instead re-imagine the living space they currently have.
