While things are constantly changing in the kitchen and bath industry it seems that the contemporary and modern style is coming in more and more as millennials are starting to get ready to redo their homes. Remember that ultimately you should not be following what everyone else doing. You should do what you truly like and what fits your home and style. We see certain styles becoming more popular in certain areas. However this post is dedicated to the best of 2018 and where we see the industry going... Enjoy!
1. Cabinet Colors
White and Gray Cabinets continue to hold strong as the hottest colors for kitchen cabinets across the United States. White cabinetry is timeless and can open up smaller kitchens, they give off a much cleaner and bright overall feeling. Gray cabinets are a slightly newer trend however it looks to continue as we see different hues of grays coming out. White and Gray cabinetry seems to lend itself to a simpler kitchen style with less detailing.

The simpler flat panel style is becoming popular all along the east coast with slight variations.
Most people are ultimately opting for simpler shaker style doors with their white and gray painted cabinetry. While white is clearly the trend, we are still seeing some new colors like dark blues, light greens, and even some more unique purples and reds for islands and accent cabinetry.

Main colors seem to be staying within the white and gray palette for the next few years at least. Aside from white for cabinets we are also seeing a resurgence of cherry as newer lighter stains are being released. Mixing and matching of colors and materials is also a very popular trend and can give your kitchen a unique feeling.

2. Kitchen Countertops
While Granite had been the undeniable leader in the countertop section for many years.... we are now seeing a massive push to Quartz all around the industry. Due to its many pros and not so many cons, quartz has become almost a no-brainer for most consumers. With 100's of patterns and various finishing techniques quartz is becoming the leader for a reason.

Quartz is a man made surface which is non porous, this makes it stain proof, scratch resistant, heat resistant, and so that it does not require to be resealed. Quartz companies like Cambria are constantly coming out with new patterns and techniques to give their quartz tops either matte feel or a more marble look.

While quartz is definitely becoming the hottest trend due to its benefits, granite and marble still have a more natural feel and look, which is more important to some consumers than the benefits of quartz ever will be.

3. Kitchen Appliances
Appliances have slowly transitioned over the years slowly getting bigger and better. Most consumers are throwing out their microwaves above the oven kitchen style. Opting for a stainless steel chimney style hood or wood cabinetry hood instead. Microwaves are now getting built into island's, pantries, and wall cabinets some people preferring drawer microwaves for there below counter top cabinets.

Most consumers are now also looking to go for the larger 36" oven or cook top. Refrigerators have also gotten bigger with the standard fridge now being 36" french door style, often times being counter depth to make up space for smaller kitchens. Double ovens are also becoming more popular for their party applications and ease of use. Appliances can have a major effect on the overall kitchen, the most popular brands continue to be Kitchenaid, LG, Sub-Zero & Wolf, Samsung, and Thermador.

Adding smaller appliances to kitchens is also becoming more popular with new wine refrigerators, beverage drawers, compactors and more. Appliances in general are becoming more technology oriented and "smart" being able to communicate between each other we see this continuing with even more emphasis on blending other home technologies with the kitchen.

4. Overall Trends
In terms of overall kitchen style trends we are seeing a movement towards the more contemporary and simpler styles. Consumers are tending to shy away from the more traditional kitchen style of years past. We see the white kitchen continuing its grasp on the industry with more and more contrasting colors coming out for islands and accent areas like wine bars and desks in grays and blues. Quartz of course is now essentially the leader and we see that carrying on. What do you think is the hottest and latest trend in the kitchen and bath industry? What do you see coming soon?
